Blue Ridge Parkway Engagement Session
We started Brittany & Mike’s Blue Ridge Parkway Engagement Session with some drinks at Devil’s Backbone! They love exploring new places through the local craft beer scene. They are collecting growlers from their favorite breweries to be used as centerpieces for their wedding at Kalero Vineyards! 
How they met
We first met in gross anatomy lab during first year of physical therapy school. However, we didn’t really become friends until just before the start of our second year of physical therapy school. The day before our first day of classes our mutual friend (shoutout to future bridesmaid, Anne) invited us both to a local brewery, Troegs, for some pre-semester brews. Who knew two Troegenators and a shot of whiskey would spark such a strong friendship? We remained just friends through the rest of PT school and ended up getting jobs in Northern VA. Prior to graduation we agreed to be roommates (since this was the most cost-effective way to live in an expensive area).
Brittany knew that Mike wanted to date but was hesitant to start a new relationship, new job, and new life in a new city all at once. He was patient and eventually he asked, “So are we dating?” and Brittany answered, “No”. Mike replied, “Well can we be dating?” and Britt finally said, “Okay, fine”. We loved exploring our new town through local breweries and hikes. Then the pandemic hit. During quarantine we learned a lot about each other and our relationship grew stronger. In October 2020, Mike proposed and the rest is history!
The Proposal
“I proposed on one of our favorite hikes in Shenandoah National Park. The trail was called White Oak Canyon. I coordinated with my boss, who frequently hikes with us, to come and take pictures. We made up the story that my boss started doing photography during the pandemic and that she was going with us to practice her newly found skills. Once we arrived at the largest of the waterfalls, I bent down and asked Britt to marry me…she said yes. Once that was over and we hiked down, I had planned for both of our families to meet us at the Winery at Bull Run to celebrate the day. This was also a surprise as I did not tell Brittany that her family would be coming.” -Mike
