Matt & Carina | Charlottesville Engagement Session

We had been planning Matt & Carina’s engagement session for a few months. We were so excited when the day finally came for us to drive out to Charlottesville to meet them! Chris and I actually graduated from high school with Matt in 2007 from our small town of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania! Matt & Carina met during college and then relocated to Charlottesville together to attend UVA! They are both in residency there know, Matt practicing Obstetrics while Carina practices Family Medicine. They sure are a power couple!

We loved having the opportunity to go to Charlottesville and seeing those gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. We decided to leave early and visit Carter’s Mountain Orchard beforehand. It was so beautiful up there on the mountain, the views were spectacular. We indulged in some apple cider donuts, peach cider, and also picked up some Bold Rock to go! We hope to go back again in the fall to go apple picking!

After that, we then went over to James Monroe’s Highland where we would be photographing their engagement session. It is also where their wedding reception will be held next May! As we were walking around, Matt & Carina were filling us in on all the history of the property. It is such a lovely location as you will see in the photos below. Their photos brought out who they are both as a couple and individually. Carina grew up horseback riding and brought along her saddle and riding boots for some photos. They made for a great canvas for detail shots of her engagement ring. We loved that they brought along books as well, especially Harry Potter!

It was so great to catch up with Matt and learn more about Carina! Carina is so bright and bubbly, I just loved her smile and laugh! You will see that laughter a lot in the photos. They really compliment each other so well. We are so so honored that they reached out to us to photograph this special time in their lives. We cannot wait for their wedding day!!
